We at Allied Loans are committed to keeping your details safe and confidential and we promise to only use your details when it’s appropriate to do so. We also use computer safeguards such as firewalls and data encryption to keep your details safe. This includes information we get from any communications with you, information passed to us by a Broker (with your consent) and information from 3rd parties such as Credit Reference Agencies etc. which we use to make our lending decisions.
This following policy will explain how, why and when we will use our Customer’s information (referred to as ‘you’ in the policy), personal information, and what we will use it for. We may update this policy at any time and the most recent policy can be seen on our website, www.alliedloans.co.uk
Allied Loans ‘lawful basis’ to process your information
If you apply for loan, either directly or via a Broker, we will make sure that we capture ‘explicit consent’ from you, to allow us to contact you, to process your application, or to contact you with information regarding our offers, products or borrowing more money.
If you have applied to be a Guarantor on an Allied Loan we will use our ‘legitimate interest’ to contact you about this loan and the Guarantor process.
We will ensure that it is as easy to withdraw your consent as it is to give it.
Allied Loans also have legal and contractual obligations to ensure that we are lending safely, responsibly and legally. This means that we will also use your information to perform adequate checks to confirm your identity and to ensure your suitability and affordability for a loan, or to guarantee a loan. We’ll also use your information to report your repayment history to the credit reference agencies, prevent fraud / money laundering, manage your loan and recover debt including, where appropriate, Court Proceedings and complying with our regulatory requirements.
What information will we collect?
We’ll collect any information we need from you in order to process your application, manage your loan repayments, operate your account, make decisions about you or fulfil our regulatory obligations. Initially, this may include name, date of birth, contact information etc.
We may also collect information on any loans you have with us, any contact we have with each other, any documents we collect as part of your application, any information you provide to us and any information in relation to Credit Reference Agencies. We will also collect information for the purpose of staff training, system improvement and ensuring that the highest standards of Customer Service are maintained. This list is not exhaustive but any information would only be collected subject to your consent or due to a ‘legitimate interest’.
How will we use your information?
We will use your information for any purpose necessary for us to process the loan you have applied for or applied to guarantee, and to manage your account, or the account you guarantee with us.
This may include making, or assisting in making credit decisions about you, assessing lending risks, and checking the details that you have let us and others have. It may also include contacting you regarding your loan, dealing with complaints, preventing fraud and financial crime and any other legitimate purpose, subject to your consent, where required.
How long we will store your information
If you make an application with us, we will store your information for 12 months. If you have a loan with us, we will keep your information indefinitely until your loan is settled. Once your loan has been settled and providing we have no ongoing relationship with you, your data will be stored securely and will not be amendable or usable for any other purpose than reference, in instances such as complaints.
Who we will share your information with?
We may share your information with any party relevant to your loan, or necessary for regulatory or legal purposes, including but not limited to; your guarantor / borrower on your loan, credit reference and fraud investigation or prevention agencies, companies you ask us to share your data with, regulators and when we are legally obliged to; for example, to the courts to recover money you owe us, to respond to your complaints via the Financial Ombudsman Service or to the police in relation to criminal activity.
When you apply for an Allied Loans Loan, we will check your credit file with credit-reference agencies ("CRAs"). The CRAs will give us credit information about you and your borrowing history, including information from the electoral register. If you’re a borrower, this credit search is used to check your identity and your eligibility for a loan. If you’re a guarantor, this information will be used to check your identity and make credit decisions about you. The CRAs will record details of our searches and your application on the credit file which they hold about you. If you’re a borrower, the CRAs will also add details of your loan agreement with us, the payments you make under it and any default or failure to keep to its terms. Your credit-reference agency records may be seen by other organisations that make searches with those agencies. Information held about you by the CRAs may be linked to records relating to one or more of your partners. For the purposes of this application you may be treated as financially linked and your application will be assessed with reference to any “associated” records. While you are a customer of ours, we may carry out extra credit searches so we can manage your account.

How we use your information to make automated decisions
We may use systems to make automated decisions about you. Automated decisions are based on personal information that we have or that we are allowed to collect from others. You have the right to object to an automated decision, and ask that a person reviews it. To do this please contact us.
You have the right to ask us to confirm what information we hold about you at any time. You can ask us to modify, update or remove your information, providing we are not legally required to hold it or hold it to meet a legitimate expectation or for you or us to meet a legal obligation.
If you disagree with us using your data, where we deem it necessary to do so, you have the right to ask to remove your information, or ask us to stop processing your information. If you would like to do so, you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org .In cases where you ask us not to contact you, we may still hold your information so that we know not to use it again in the future. If you request us to remove your information, we will respond to your request within 30 days. We will only refuse your request if we are required or have legal right to process the information for a specific reason. For example, if you have an ongoing relationship with us, or we have a legal reason to keep it.
